Recently I was given the opportunity to review two fantastic subscription box services. Unfortunately, all of the computers in my house stopped working at the same time (of course!) and I had to postpone my reviews. Luckily, I’m back in the game now, and I can review the boxes I’ve been dying to talk about!
The first box I want to talk about is Taste Guru. Taste Guru is a subscription box that is perfect for those who live a gluten free lifestyle. Most subscription box food services can’t say that!
This box was full of DELICIOUS! My husband even got in on the action when it came to taste testing.
What was in the box you ask? Let me tell you! The first item I noticed was a magazine. This was an edition of Delight magazine, which is specifically made for those with gluten intolerance and food allergies. I really liked receiving this because, even though my family isn’t a gluten free family, this provides some amazing recipes and articles to share with those who are. Plus, the recipes sound amazing!
Retail: $5.95 per magazine
The next two items in the box were lentil and quinoa chips made my Simply 7. This chips are out of control delicious! I’ve tried these before, and when my husband saw them, he immediately said, “Those are for me, right?”
Retail: $1.00 each (single serve size)
Next up, we have gluten free, allergy friendly, pancake mix by Oven Baked Organics. Who doesn’t love pancakes?! I especially liked the directions on the back. Not only were there directions for using the mix normally, there were also edited directions for those who are allergic to eggs. Milk allergies? No problem! You can use any kind of milk that you would like. My personal favorite is almond milk.
Retail: $5.00 per mix
I love granola so I was especially excited when this box came with two packs by Boulder Granola! One package was an original flavor, and the other contained cranberries, my personal favorite. I loved having the granola with cranberries as a snack that I could just throw in my backpack for a midday snack during class. The original was great on top of Greek yogurt in the morning, or as an afternoon snack.
Retail: $2.70 per 2oz. bag
Tabasco goes on just about everything, and having a little bottle to go was just as awesome as it was adorable! For anybody who loves adding a little extra heat to your food, you will understand the bonus this added to the box.
Retail: $0.55 each (miniature sized)
The NoGii D’Lites Chocolate Caramel protein bars were another hit at my house! It can be a little difficult to find protein bars that are delicious and not chalky and hard to swallow. Did I mention that they were chocolate AND caramel flavored?
Retail: $1.25 each
Grits are one of our favorite breakfast foods. While we usually only have them on the weekends with a big breakfast (you know, along with our gluten-free pancakes), we absolutely love them! Depending on where you are from, cheese might top yours, but we like ours with a splash of milk and a little bit of sugar. That’s how my grandma used to make them for us when we visited her in Tennessee. These grits are made by Old School Mill.
Retail: $4.49 per 1lb. bag
More people than ever have peanut allergies these days, and schools have become more protective of those students who have them. Why not be a little extra thoughtful and use Wowbutter instead? This soy-based butter doesn’t contain nuts, and is a healthy alternative to the peanut butter risk you can find at just about every school. Plus, it tastes delicious!
Retail: $0.24 per .56oz serving cup
Beef sticks are a quick, easy, and delicious snack any day of the week. This box contained an all natural ginger and garlic premium beef stick by Wyoming Gourmet Beef. Can we just say AMAZING?
Retail: $1.59 per stick
Last but not least, were cherry flavored cranberries! Sounds strange right? These were delicious and the perfect pick me up on the way home from school.
Retail: $0.45 per .75oz box
The total value of this box was $25.93. Taste Guru charges $20 to $23 dollars per box (including the $5 for shipping) depending on the subscription package you sign up for. Regardless, you are saving money!
The thing that I really love about this box is that everything is delicious, and you don’t have to risk going out and spending a ridiculous amount of money on full sized items you might not even like. If you don’t like something in this box, it’s a lot cheaper than spending $10 – $15 dollars per item at the grocery store. There were also coupons and recipes in the box too!
If you are interested in signing up, or even just trying out Taste Guru, click here to shop around now. Trust me when I say that you will love it! While you’re at it, sign up for their free gluten-free recipe book too! All you have to do is share your e-mail address.
I have not received any compensation for writing this post. I have no material connection to the brands, products, or services that I have mentioned.
